Sash Window Renovation
We aim to restore old sash windows, rather than replacing them with new ones. We renovate old sash windows by following tried and tested methods, replacing worn sash cords and balancing sash weights for smoother opening.
How We Renovate Sash Windows
We remove sashes from the sash box where possible to carry out the necessary repairs in detail. Built up paint coatings will be stripped, decayed timber will be routed out and repairs carried out with the Repair Care System. This is a unique flexible epoxy based resin, solvent free and odorless, suitable for small and large repairs. It has been formulated to expand and contract with timber substrates and it forms a watertight bond not just with timber but also with metal and masonry substrates.
Where repair is not possible, we will splice in new timber, again using the Repair Care System to protect vulnerable joints and end-grain. This helps to prevent premature paint failure.
Improving Sash Window Heat Loss Performance
We also offer performance upgrade: by filling gaps around the sash boxes with expanding foam and draught proofing with brush seals we help make your house more energy efficient. At the last stage we will apply the agreed paint coatings. We can source and apply all conventional paint coatings, stains and varnishes.
Our service does not stop here: we can also fit new hardware, new putty, replace broken glazing or advise you on additional security and safety issues.
Excellence and attention to detail extends beyond the windows we renovate and restore to a fully working condition.
